Tuesday, July 15, 2008 - Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla

-Texas' Josh Hamilton exploded for an incredible 28 home-runs in the the first round of the Home Run Derby last night, but came in second to Justin Morneau - they gotta change the format.
-The LA Angels' Fransisco Rodriguez says that he plans to file for free agency at the end of this season. Not something you want to hear if you're an Angels fan (or part of the Angels organization) - especially mid-season of your title run.
-On Off The Record, Ray Emery was asked, "Do you have a drug problem?"...what answer was Michael Landsberg expecting, a modest "Yes"?
-According to Barry Bonds' agent, it looks like there will be little to no chance Barroid will be in the league this year.
-At Oaks Christian High (or appropriately dubbed Celebrity High), Nick Montana, the son of Joe Montana and Trevor Gretzky, the son of Wayne Gretzky, will both be competing for minutes as the school's quarterback. Also on the team, is Trey Smith, the son of actor Will Smith.
-Former referee Tim Donaghy is looking to bring down with him as many other people as he can. NBA referee Scott Foster has been linked to Donaghy's phone call records. It'll be interesting to see whether Donaghy fits the description of a ""rogue, isolated criminal" that the Commish dubbed him as, or whether this scandal is bigger than we think.
-The Yankees' Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui could be out longer than they expected, due to additional discomfort and continued soreness.
-And here I thought I was the only one who noticed Jays' commentator Rance Mulliniks' grammar problems.
-John Papelbon is confident that he can get 'er done, but is willing to give up the role of relief in tonight's game to elder statesman Mariano Rivera. How un-Vince Carter like of him.
-Chase Hilgenbrinck of the MLS is leaving the New England Revolution to enter a seminary, in hopes to become a Roman Catholic Priest.
-Canada's Rush will perform Tom Sawyer on the Colbert Report, this Wednesday...won't want to miss that. Also, Nas will appear on the show to perform on July 23.
