Friday, October 31, 2008 - Brian Scalabrine is special.

-Idiot of the week: Jeff Kent (as much as I've come to respect the guy). Just pure ignorance, on his behalf. I'll just let the LGBT that make up the Dodgers fan base speak for themselves on the issue.
-the 76ers delivered the Knicks their first blow-out in the D'Antoni era.
-For sale, A-Rod's apartment.
-Mark Texeira, Manny Ramirez and Ben Sheets wasted little time filing for free agency, in a list that will quickly expand in due time.
-I would rather see Jason Kapono shoot one behind the arc with two players contesting, than anything driving to the cup.
-Someone tell Gregg Poppovich to shave, the Santa look just isn't him.
-Word on the street for the services of my boy, C.C Sabathia is that the Brewers are looking to send a cheque worth $100M his way.
-Andrea Bargnani is going to be making a lot of haters eat a tonne of crow - this is just the beginning.
-Phillies tickets were selling for 3k on Stubhub. Incredible.
-Never thought I'd hear this, but the New York Knicks have cut a guy named Patrick Ewing. Right before the season too - good thing the Knicks front office aren't superstitious...
-Forbes ranked the Toronto Maple Leafs 1st in overall value for the third straight year, income wise. If you think that's a lot, to put in perspective, the average NFL team is worth $1 billion.
-And the survey says...Bill Belicheck is among the most and least desirable coach, according to current players in the NFL.
-This stuff is gold. "Coming off his best year as a pro in 2004 where Scalabrine played 22 minutes a game while averaging 6.3 ppg., and 4.5 rebounds, Ainge saw an opportunity. Ainge was able to sign Scalabrine to a five year, $15 million deal, narrowly outbidding the Los Angelas Sparks."
-A look into Juwan Howard's Ipod - You're Beautiful by James Blunt.
-Cole and Chase are so cute. The Phillies' colours are go well with their eyes.

Sunday, August 3, 2008 - I've Got 99 Problems...

-When asked whether Manny Ramirez was aware that #99 was symbolic of another player in the sport of hockey (and coincidentally one who played in LA at one point) - Man-Ram shrugged it off, saying he knew nothing about hockey. General unwritten rule of sports tells you not to choose a couple of specific numbers, regardless of particular sport, but I guess that's "Manny being Manny", whatever that means...
-On the BS Report with Bill Simmons podcast, Danica Patrick revealed that her dog's name was Ricky Bobby. She also said that she received a speeding ticket a short time ago, for clocking over 17 of the limit. She told the officer that she was a race car driver, and knew what she was doing. To which he replied,"I don't know who you are, and I don't care."
-an 84 year old man from Quebec biked more than 800 KM from his home to Montreal so he can catch a plane to Beijing. This is his 12th time doing this.
-EA Sports chose Brett Favre to be on the cover of Madden 2009 - coming out in August. He will be wearing a Green Bay Packers uniform.
-Manny Ramirez stated that he feels like he will play in LA for the remainder of his career (not very likely). Gotta love it when players use that cheezy line, especially before even playing one game with their new team.
-Team that made the best move before the trade deadline? LA Angels picking up Mark Texeira. Great teams don't wait for other teams to make moves and react, they make the risky moves and make others react to them. And Texeira and Guerrero just sounds a heck of a lot better than Izturis and Guerrero, don't 'cha think?
-Adam Jones has decided that he's changed his mind, and that everyone can go back to calling him Pacman, instead of Adam or Mr. Jones. Not that anyone cares, or even considered his first request...
-In the epic (and well publicized) battle of the beards, Deshawn Stevenson outlasted Drew Gooden and finally won the bet.
-Cowbell Hero blows Guitar Hero out of the water.
-Link of the day: add Ron Artest to your Myspace! (and listen to him Crank That - remix).

Wednesday, July 9, 2008 - Brotherly Love

-I'm just going to start out by saying that the "winner of the MLB All-Star game determines home-field advantage" is a joke and anyone who disagrees with that, is an idiot. Whatever happened to "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."? Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
-It appears that the Winter Classic featuring the Detroit Red Wings playing against the Chicago Blackhawks will be played at Wrigley Field.
-Longtime LA Clipper, Elton Brand is reportedly heading to the City of Brotherly Love. Irony can be such a bitch huh, Baron?
-And the poor just keep on getting poorer. Michael Vick has filed for bankruptcy and is said to be owing creditors between $10 and $50 million. Yikes.
-Catalyst of last nights' Orioles-Jays victory? Alex Rios with a base-clearing 3-RBI triple.
-A day after scoring 28 pts, Michael Beasley went 1 for 13 and finishing with just 9 pts, all while collecting 7 fouls. Might want to re-think that old nickname, "B-Easy", 'cause the NBA is no cakewalk (and Summer League is nothing like the actual league).
-The Chicago Cubs have responded to the Brewers' acquisition of C.C Sabathia, with a move of their own - picking up Canadian pitcher Rich Harden in a 6-player blockbuster.
-In his sit down with fill-in host, Bonnie Bernstein - Terry Francona shot down both the Mark Texeira and Barry Bonds to Boston rumours - blaming online forums and blogs for starting these rumours.
-About a week ago, Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers stated that he is almost positive that the organization is moving forward - almost closing the door on the Brett Favre return rumours. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just yesterday, reports surfaced that Favre sent a text message to Ted Thompson. And the football soap opera lives on for another day.
-Chuck Swirsky's successor has been announced, it will be Matt Devlin replacing the Swirsk. Take a listen for a preview of what to expect next season.
-Toss up. Who's the more overrated mainstream comedian of today, Dane Cook or Russell Peters?
-For the nu-metal fans out there, Dragonforce's new album titled Ultra Beatdown, comes out Aug. 25th worldwide.
